Funding materials, 1871-1982 [state publication].

This series relates to the funding of education in the state by federal, state, and local programs. For federal funding, it contains summaries and directories of federal programs, a local school systems assistance unit directory, and a report on the management of federal programs in the dept. co-authored by the U.S. Office of Education. Other materials include an 1871 report of the apportionment of the school fund to counties and townships, giving numbers of and amounts for whites and blacks, and the sixteenth section interest amounts by township and range; a resource unit on how schools are financed; a methodology of inventorying state and federal assistance programs; a report on minimum program funding, which shows actual amounts distributed and itemized by counties for 1951-1953; county taxes for fiscal year 1949 and 1951; and an application for funding under the Emergency Employment Act of 1971. Also included by the Technical Advisory Committee on Equalization are Alabama's Tax Structure: A Study of the Tax Capacity, Tax Effort, Incidence, and Future Revenue Potential of the State and Local Tax System by the Task Force on Taxation and Local Effort, and Equalizing Support Services in the Schools of Alabama by the Task Force on Support Services. They were prepared through a grant to the Division of Continuing Education of the University of Alabama; the former title by the Center for Business and Economic Research. Other funding materials may be found under titles of the act or program; for example, Child Nutrition Materials. The series documents how federal, state, and local funds are administered by the Dept.
